There was a demonstration in front of the DPR this morning. As a result, traffic in front of the DPR towards Slipi was reported to be congested.
“The traffic situation in front of the MPR / DPR Jl. Gatot Subroto towards Slipi is observed to be busy and tends to be congested,” as quoted from account X, TMC Polda Metro Jaya @TMCPoldaMetro, Tuesday (5/12/2023).
Based on the video uploaded by TMC Polda Metro, police officers were at the location to regulate traffic. Demonstrators were seen starting to gather at the location, a number of the crowd were seen wearing white clothes.
Banners were also seen with the words ‘The DPR is People’s Representatives, Not Party Representatives’ which the masses put up on the DPR fence and on trucks at the location.
Meanwhile, Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro, when confirmed separately, said that the demonstration crowd came from Apdesi (Association of All Indonesian Village Governments).
“The masses from Apdesi are related to the revision of the village law,” said Susatyo.
He said traffic diversions could be implemented depending on the situation.
